Kaduna Woman Seeks Divorce Over Husband’s Excessive Sexual Demands

A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, has approached a Kaduna Customary Court seeking a divorce from her husband, Felix Stephen, due to his excessive sexual demands. The couple, who have been married for six years, reside in Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna.

In her petition to the court, Linda Stephen explained that her husband’s constant sexual advances had become unbearable. She revealed that Felix would often demand sex from midnight until the early morning hours, even when she was in distress. According to her, his behavior was relentless, with Felix continuing despite her protests and even when she was crying.

Linda also stated that Felix would resort to physical violence whenever she rejected his advances. She alleged that he would beat her in front of their two children, further intensifying her distress. After leaving the marital home three months ago, Linda confirmed that Felix’s relatives had been pleading with her to return, but they were unaware of the ongoing issues she was facing within the marriage.

“I can’t stand his excessive sexual demands anymore,” Linda told the court. “I have no interest in staying in this marriage because of how it has affected me emotionally and physically.”

In response, Felix Stephen expressed his love for his wife and pleaded for the court’s intervention to prevent the divorce. He admitted to his behavior but assured the court that he was now ready to control his sexual urges. Felix revealed that he had made efforts to reconcile, even bringing relatives to Linda’s parents’ house to appeal for her return. However, he claimed that Linda rejected all attempts at reconciliation and walked out on him.

“I love my wife, and I am ready to change. Please don’t grant her request for a divorce. I just need time to make things right,” Felix said.

Judge John Dauda, presiding over the case, adjourned the matter to May 6, giving both parties time to attempt reconciliation. He also advised the couple to remain peaceful in the meantime and to work toward resolving their issues outside the courtroom.
