Napoli Beats AC Milan, Closes Gap on Serie A Leaders Inter

Napoli secured a crucial victory over AC Milan, keeping them within three points of Serie A table-toppers Inter Milan in a thrilling encounter. Antonio Conte’s men dominated early, netting two quick goals, but faced intense pressure as Milan fought back late in the match.

Matteo Politano opened the scoring with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, while Billy Gilmour set up Romelu Lukaku for a scrappy second. However, ninth-placed Milan refused to go down without a fight—Luka Jovic pulled one back from close range after Santiago Gimenez’s earlier penalty was saved by Napoli keeper Alex Meret.

Milan pushed hard for an equalizer, with Jovic coming agonizingly close in stoppage time, but Napoli held firm. The visitors were further weakened by the absence of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who underwent an emergency appendectomy earlier in the day. Follow live Serie A updates here.

Meanwhile, defending champions Inter Milan maintained their three-point lead at the summit with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Udinese. Marko Arnautovic and Davide Frattesi found the net, while Oumar Solet’s late goal set up a nervy finish.

Elsewhere, Atalanta’s title hopes took another hit as they fell 1-0 to Fiorentina, with Moise Kean netting the decisive goal. Manager Gianpiero Gasperini admitted their Scudetto dreams were already over after their loss to Inter on March 16.

“It was an impossible dream that faded after the Inter defeat,” Gasperini said. “Now, teams below us are building strong runs. We still have an advantage with five home games out of our remaining eight.”
